We’re thrilled to team up with 420MEDIA to present the 48-Hour Film Challenge!

In addition to our flagship annual showcase, we’re inviting bold filmmakers to test their craft in a high-octane weekend challenge. Write, shoot, and edit an original genre short from January 8–10, 2027, and compete for a spot on the big screen in New York City.

Genres We Love: Horror, B-Horror, Psychological Thrillers, and Dark Comedies.

We exist outside the grasp of proper society. Our genre-defying visuals and soundscapes create a mind-expanding experience for a modern, sophisticated audience.

• The NYC Live Event (Feb 6, 2027): Top 20 challenge films take the screen in New York City across two curated screening blocks, featuring red carpet interviews, live filmmaker Q&As, and an exclusive after-party.

• YouTube & Digital Showcase: Every eligible completed film is featured in our official online showcase. Featured entries stream on our @WeirdShortFilmsYouTube channel in a group showing.

• IMDb & Career Credit: Add official competition selections and awards directly to your film’s IMDb page to expand your distribution portfolio.
